ZIONSVILLE, Ind. -- A reportedly suicidal suspect fleeing from police caused a lockdown at a Zionsville elementary school Thursday.

The lockdown was issued shortly after 5 p.m. at Union Elementary School, located at 11750 E 300 S. in Zionsville.

The school issued a text alert to parents and staff saying the lockdown was caused by a suspect fleeing Carmel police following a domestic dispute.

The pursuit ended outside the school building. The lockdown was issued as a precautionary measure as students were still inside the school.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department announce shortly before 6 p.m. that the lockdown had been lifted and the suspect taken into custody without incident.
