Purdue university student arrested in connection with sexual assault, according to police

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --  A Purdue University student was arrested Sunday in connection with a sexual assault, according to Purdue police.

The assault reportedly occurred shortly before 4 p.m. in the 1200 block of First Street.

Donald G. Ward, 19, of Madison, was arrested on a preliminary charge of rape.

Police say the victim and Ward were acquaintances.

He is a sophomore in the College of Engineering.
