INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was placed into police custody after he was involved in a SWAT situation that lasted several hours on Indianapolis' south side Wednesday afternoon.
Police first responded to the area of 4300 S. East Street just before 2:30 p.m.
Officers were looking for 29-year-old Paul Reese Jr., who was wanted on a warrant. Once approached, police said Reese fled the scene in a pickup truck, but got stuck in the mud after striking a fence.
IMPD said SWAT was called once Reese pulled a gun and put it to his head. After three hours of negotiating, investigators deployed gas into the truck, causing Reese to surrender.
Officers said Reese was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Call 6 Investigators learned Reese may be a potential suspect in several home invasions and robberies in at least three counties.
Reese has multiple family members that have been involved in criminal activity, according to Call 6, and police are familiar with the Reese family in Indianapolis
