INDIANAPOLIS -- Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 15-year-old boy downtown early Sunday morning after he allegedly groped a woman in front of officers.

According to the incident report, a bicycle officer with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department witnessed a teenage boy walk up to a woman who was talking to other officers in the 100 block of North Capitol Avenue and grope her inappropriately.

The deputy said the teen reached through the woman’s legs and grabbed her before jumping back behind a group of other juveniles.

The deputy stopped the teen and placed him under arrest on preliminary charges of battery and disorderly conduct.

The teen told police he knew woman he had grabbed, and that he had touched her inappropriately, but said that she was his friend.

The female victim reportedly walked off while police were placing the teen suspect under arrest.

The incident happened less than a week after two juveniles were arrested following an alleged groping incident on the Monon Trail near Broad Ripple.
