INDIANAPOLIS – Three people were taken into custody by Indianapolis police for their alleged connection to a shooting and armed robbery that happened Monday night on the city’s northeast side.

Police believe Deja Canady, 20, Anthony Harmon, 18, and Jamel Hoskin, 17, were involved in an incident that happened in an apartment stairwell.

The three suspects were arrested during a traffic stop and preliminarily charged with armed robbery, battery by means of deadly weapon, and criminal recklessness.

Officers said the victim was approached by two men who asked for a cigarette. When the male victim said he did not have any, he was shot and robbed by the two males.

That determination was made due to the similar description provided of the two suspects and the timing of the incidents, investigators said.

During the traffic stop, another person was identified and believed to have been involved in the incident.
