COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Two people were arrested after they were caught inside a Columbus storage unit early Wednesday morning.

Columbus police were called around 2:30 a.m. for a report of a suspicious person walking around Storage Express on 15th Street.

Columbus Police Department officers located an unattended vehicle and saw a flashlight inside one the storage units when they arrived. Police say a large hole had been cut in the chain link fence that surrounded the property and the security camera had been moved.

Officers waited outside the storage unit until the two suspects inside opened the door.

Jeremiah Clark, 31 and Cheryl Bailey, 30, were both arrested on the scene.

Officers contacted the owner of the storage unit who told police that they had not given anyone permission to be inside their unit.

Clark and Bailey are both facing preliminary charges of burglary and theft.
