Woman killed, husband critically injured in shooting on Indianapolis' northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was killed and her husband critically injured in a shooting on Indianapolis' northeast side Monday evening. 

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 4000 block of Meadows Drive just before 9 p.m. for a report of several people shot.

In the meantime, an off-duty Marion County Sheriff's Office deputy was flagged down by a man who had been shot.

When IMPD officers arrived, they found a woman in an apartment who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Both victims were taken to the hospital in critical condition.  The woman died from her injuries.  The man, later identified as her husband, remains in critical condition.
