INDIANAPOLIS -- Two teens were injured, one critical after a shooting early Sunday morning on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

It happened at an apartment complex near 42nd Street and Mitthoeffer Road just after 12:30 a.m.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers on the scene said a male was hit multiple times, including his upper body. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A female was also shot in the leg. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The shooting marks five teenagers shot in Indianapolis in a 24 hour period.

Early Saturday morning, police say three teens were shot in a parking lot on West 38th Street. A 17-year-old Warren Central High School student died as a result of his injuries from that shooting. The two other teens remain in the hospital.

IMPD is still investigating both shootings. Anyone with information is being encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-8477.
