INDIANAPOLIS -- At least a dozen different vehicles were broken into and had their windows smashed out on Indianapolis' northeast side sometime early Saturday morning.

Many of the cars were parked in the Timber Point Apartments parking lot on Newberry Court.

Don Whiting said the thieves smashed three windows out of his jeep.

"It's not just a deliberate act of vandalism," said Whiting. It's like they intentionally did it to cause damage and inconvenience people."

Whiting said someone rifled through his glove box and center console - making the inside of his vehicle a mess - but they didn't actually take anything.

Now Whiting and his neighbors are left trying to clean up the mess and get the windows on his jeep fixed.

"It's more annoying on a holiday weekend like this because everyone's closed," said Whiting.

According to police reports, the damage to the cars totaled over $17,000.

Police are still trying to find the person responsible. Anyone with information on any suspicious activity in the area can contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
