INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman has died after police say she was hit by a vehicle on the city's west side Thursday evening.
Police say the vehicle was traveling west on West Morris Street near South Girls School Road and the driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting the woman who was walking in the road but was unable to avoid her.
The victim, identified as a 45-year-old woman, was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The accident remains under investigation.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
