Zechariah James sentenced to 60 years in prison for 2016 murder

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis man was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Friday for the 2016 murder of Antoan Johnson.

Zechariah James, 32, was convicted on June 27 of murder in Marion County Superior Court.

Johnson was killed on April 11, 2015, in the 2800 block of Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive.

James was identified quickly as the suspect in the shooting, but wasn’t arrested until July of that year.

On Friday, Judge Kurt Eisgruber sentenced Johnson to 60 years in prison. He will receive 374 days credit for time already served in the Marion County Jail.

The sentence comes one day after another convicted murderer, Antonio Merritt, was given 85 years in prison for fatally shooting 23-year-old Jordan White in 2015.
