You'll be able to see a total solar eclipse right here in Indianapolis on April 8, 2024.
It will be first time in 819 years that a total solar eclipse has been visible in Indianapolis.
The 2024 eclipse won’t replicate the same path of totality as the Great American Eclipse. Instead, it crosses the country from southwest to northeast. That means the two paths will overlap an area of nearly 9,000 square miles, which is about the size of New Jersey.
The red line in this map represents the path of Monday’s total solar eclipse. The blue line shows the path the 2024 eclipse will take.
Illinois and Kentucky are also in this unique path of totality.
The 2024 total solar eclipse will extend from Texas up to Maine.
