INDIANAPOLIS – Revenge was the likely motive in the shooting death of a man on Indianapolis’ southeast side Tuesday evening, according to police.

Police found the body of 65-year-old William "Bill" Schumacher of Indianapolis just before 5 p.m. inside a house in the 5400 block of Armstrong Court.  Schumacher was shot at least one time.

Beech Grove police were notified the shooting suspect was possibly in a home in the 100 block of South 2nd Street.

Officers soon arrested 21-year-old Walter Davis of Indianapolis after they say he provided a statement implicating himself as the shooter.

Detectives believe Davis shot the victim that morning inside the home they shared as roommates.

Davis is being held on a preliminary charge of murder.
