OHIO — A 21-year-old Indiana Wesleyan student is accused of inappropriately touching several young girls at an Ohio water park.
Security at Kalahari Resort contacted the Erie County, Ohio, sheriff's department after a report from young girls on Dec. 30.
According to police records, three young female victims told officers that a man had "bumped" into them, touching their buttocks area inappropriately on more than one occasion while they were in the hotel's arcade room.
The girls identified Brandon Arven from a surveillance image that police provided. Arven told police he had been frantically looking for his girlfriend in the resort and he may have "accidentally" bumped into several people while he was searching.
After reviewing surveillance video from the resort's cameras, police determined that Arven appeared to be walking intentionally close to the young girls and that there was enough space present that he would have had no reason to touch them or bump into them. The police report from the incident states that an officer noticed that Brandon appeared to be "watching and almost stalking" one of the victims.
Arven was arrested and charged with gross sexual imposition of a victim under the age of 13.
Indiana Wesleyan University says Arven is a Marion campus student and was a member of the Cheer Team.
"We are taking the arrest and allegations very seriously and are following our student conduct policies and procedures accordingly," the university said in a statement.
It is unclear what his status at the school is at this time.
