Indiana State Police seeking recruits for Capitol Section

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police announced Friday they are seeking applicants for the Capitol Police Section.

ISP is seeking recruits for Capitol Police Officers until Monday, Oct. 21. Applications must be sent into ISP online.

Requirements and consideration factors for Capitol Police Officers include the following:

  1. Must be a United States citizen.
  2. Must be at least 21 years of age when appointed as a police employee (Appointment date is Apr. 24, 2020).
  3. Must meet a minimum vision standard (corrected or uncorrected) of 20/50 acuity in each eye and 20/50 distant binocular acuity in both eyes.
  4. Must possess a valid driver's license to operate an automobile.Must be a high school graduate as evidenced by a diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).

The police academy is set to begin on Jan. 13, 2020

Starting salary for a Capitol Police Section Probationary Officer is $44,497 a year.
