Jury selection began Tuesday morning with a pool of 400 potential jurors drawn from Allen County residents.

By 6 p.m., 18 jurors had been agreed upon -- 10 women and 8 men.

The process went much more smoothly than jury selection at the trial of Leonard's brother, Mark Ray Leonard. St. Joseph County Judge John Marnocha had to dismiss a pool of 56 potential jurors in that case when defense attorneys introduced allegations their client had attempted to hire a hitman from jail to kill a witness.
