SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. -- An air ambulance was called to a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in rural Shelby County.
The crash happened around 6:00 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. 52 and County Road 200 East.
Indiana State Police were investigating the crash, along with the Clifford Fire Department.
Police said an SUV was preparing to turn when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck, causing it to strike a van.
Police arrived on scene to find bystanders performing CPR on 51-year-old John Hogue, the driver of the SUV. Hogue was pronounced deceased at the scene.
An air ambulance was called to the scene to transport 20-year-old Jessica Maxwell of Muncie, Indiana, in critical condition.
No injuries were reported to the driver of the truck.
