CARMEL, Ind. -- In the current political climate, it’s sometimes hard to pick sides. But a Carmel teen is working to win over voters now – even though he doesn’t plan to run for 28 more years.
At just 14, Chris Elmore has chosen a side. The middle schooler says he’s a republican and a conservative. But more importantly – he’s on your side.
“I’m a boy scout. I go and help people,” said Elmore, “I think the best way to help the masses is to be in a position like the presidency.”
He’s not joining Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in this year’s election, but he’s already making his plan for when he does run.
He even has a website: Chris Elmore for President in 2044.
He’ll be 42.
“I’ll be just in the middle age where I think I can make a difference and appeal to people, but I can have some experience and be more wise,” said Elmore.
He said he set up the website almost three decades before he plans to run, so he can prove to voters just how motivated he is.
But that doesn’t mean he’s not aiming his sights high in the near future too.
“Maybe I’ll become a congressman,” he said, followed by “… maybe I’ll run for senate.”
In the meantime, Elmore asks that you check out his policies – and he encourages you to do the same with the current candidates.
“I encourage people to do their own research,” said Elmore. “We live in a country where you can cast your vote, you can have a say. And I think that’s very important in America. So I encourage them to go vote.
