INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated after she drove her car into an accident scene, injuring two firefighters and one EMT Wednesday night.
The woman has been identified as Kaitlyn Michelle Carlson, 23.
The firefighters and EMT were on the scene of a two car crash near Southport Road and Gray Road on the city's south side when a woman drove over a hill and hit the back of one of the cars involved in the crash.
Two firefighters, who were under the hood of the car trying to disconnect the battery, were thrown from the car.
An EMT, who was working on a patient in one of the wrecked cars, suffered a minor injury.
Brian Hedrick, a 15 year IFD veteran, was thrown approximately 10 feet in the air. He is in good condition and will stay at the hospital overnight for observation.
Firefighter Corey VanWyk, who graduated from the IFD Recruit Academy last month, was treated and released.
IEMS EMT Clayton Moore, who was kneeling next to the open passenger side door when the collision occurred, went to the hospital on his assigned medic truck, but declined treatment.
