JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. -- About $21,000' worth of cows were stolen from a barn in Johnson County.

Police in the county say they responded to a call of theft Monday around 4 p.m. The responding officer said he talked to Rick Teverbaugh, who runs the Amity Sale Barn at the Johnson County Sales Pavilion.

Taverbaugh told police he bought some cattle at a sale in Kentucky, then took them to a holding pen in Johnson County to be sold Monday night.

There were about 20 cows in the pen, which was secured with a chain and a padlock Sunday evening. Taverbaugh said he was the only person around when the pen was locked.

One of his employees noticed they were missing the next morning.

Taverbaugh gave police a list of the missing cows.

Police have no suspects in the case.
