5-month-old safe after possible abduction

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A 5-month-old infant was found safe Sunday evening after an abduction in Monroe County, Indiana.

Bloomington Police were called to the Monroe County Library about a possible child abduction.

A 17-year-old mother, who is a ward of the state, had been allowed supervised visitation with her 5-month-old child, who is also a ward of the state.

While at the library, the 17-year-old ran away with the child. Police searched the area, but couldn't find the mother or her child.

Police learned the mother and infant had traveled to the Indianapolis area.

The 17-year-old was found the in 4700 block of E. 34th Street. After an interview, she told police where the child was. They found the 5-month-old at a family friend's house in the 8100 block of Schoen Drive in Lawrence, Indiana.

The mother was referred for interference with child custody.
