BROOKVILLE, Ind. – A 5-year-old boy drowned Tuesday afternoon in Brookville, Indiana.
Around 2:50 p.m., a 10-year-old girl swimming at the beach at Brookville Reservoir told her father she found what she thought was a body in the water.
The girl’s father located the body of a child under the surface of the water and pulled them to the shore. Two bystanders began CPR.
Indiana Conservation Officers found the parents of 5-year-old Anderson Ramirez, who were already searching for their child. They said he had been missing for about 5 to 10 minutes.
Anderson was transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital by air but was pronounced dead shortly before 4:30 p.m., according to DNR officers.
Brookville Reservoir's beaches have no lifeguards on duty and are considered "swim at your own risk" areas.
