INDIANAPOLIS — An east side Indianapolis neighborhood and park will receive a massive spring cleaning, Saturday.
Some 500 volunteers will be in the Christian Park neighborhood and park as part of the Great Indy Cleanup.
Christian Park is bounded by East Washington Street on the north, English Avenue on the south, Emerson Avenue to the east, and Sherman Drive on the west.
Ashley Haynes, spokesperson for Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, says the group organizes about 200 neighborhood cleanups each year, including two featured events.
In October, hundreds of volunteers will descend on the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood.
The Christian Park volunteers come from groups such as the Girl Scouts and Indy Pride, in addition to members of the local neighborhood association.
Streets and alleys will be cleared of trash, while in the park, trees will be planted and mulch will be put down.
Saturday's cleanup is from 9 a.m. to noon.
