54-year-old Noblesville man killed in crash

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- A man driving a moped was killed in a crash in Noblesville Friday night. 

Police have identified him as Terry Schippers, 54, of Noblesville. 

Police responded to the intersection of Greenfield Avenue and Watson Boulevard on a report of a crash involving a moped and a car around 9:10 p.m. 

According to a press release from the Noblesville Police Department, based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, it appears that a 2012 Dodge Charger was driving northbound on Watson when it pulled into the path of Schippers, who was driving eastbound on Greenfield Avenue.

The driver of the Dodge appeared to be trying to turn westbound on Greenfield Avenue at the time of the crash. He has been identified as Darius Butler, 21, of Noblesville. He was not injured in the crash. 

Schippers was taken to the hospital, where he later died. Police do not believe he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
