6-year-old boy saves mother's life during medical emergency

DELPHI, Ind. – A 6-year-old boy saved his mother’s life Monday with just the click of a few buttons.

Elijah helped save his diabetic mother, Valerie McTigue, when she needed medical attention by dialing 911.

“Mommy got sick. I had a chance to call 911. I just dialed 911,” he said.

Elijah’s parents taught him his home address and how to dial 911 after McTigue was found unconscious on the floor during her pregnancy. She now wears a monitor that alerts her, her husband and her mother when her blood sugar gets too low.

“I couldn't be more proud--he is my little hero,” said McTigue.
