CASS COUNTY, Ind. – A 6-year-old drowned following an incident near Galveston, Indiana Tuesday night.
The boy was playing in a drainage ditch filled with water when he went under and did not resurface around 8:15 p.m., according to Indiana DNR officer Jarred Coffing.
He was located about 45 minutes later and taken to St. Vincent hospital in Kokomo where he died, said Coffing.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the Howard County coroner.
No other details were released.
Cass County was one of the hardest hit areas in Indiana from Tuesday's storms. The rain left Indiana rivers and creeks with high waters.
