INDIANAPOLIS – June 21 marks the first day of summer, but some of Indy’s movers and shakers have been planning food, bike and cultural festivals for months.
Warm summer-like breezes says now is the time to enjoy some of the city’s best fairs and festivals with friends and family.
There are dozens of events through August, but we pulled out only the best for you:
Talbot Street Art Fair | June 17 & 18, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. | Downtown Indy
Take home a one-of-a-kind art piece created by one of the 270 artists from around the world at the Talbot Street Art Fair. You’ll find jewelry, photos, sculptures, glass pieces and more.
El Dia de La Familia | June 18, 1-11 p.m. | Military Park
To celebrate Latin culture, El Dia de La Familia will be a full day of food, music and family activities. Try some of your favorite Latin foods or discover something new.
Taste of Indy | July 1, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. | Monument Circle
You won’t find any big-name chain restaurants at the Taste of Indy – just good, local food. This 6th annual event will feature favorites like Caplinger’s, Tijuana Flats, Rodizio Brazilian Steakhouse, Chef Dan’s Southern Comfort, Johnson’s BBQ, Goodfellas and others.
CarmelFest | July 3-4, 3-10 p.m. | Civic Square
This one is not in Indy, but it’s pretty close! One of Hamilton County’s largest festivals will have something for everyone this year – including a talent competition, food vendors, shopping market and fireworks on Fourth of July.
Indy Criterium Bicycle Festival | July 8, 9 a.m. -7:30 p.m.| Monument Circle
While Indy Crit is one of the city’s largest bicycle races for kids and adults, it offers much more. Guests can participate in the race, watch a live BMX show, grab a drink in the beer garden or check out the food vendors.
Ice Cream Social on the Circle | July 14, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.| Monument Circle
More than 30 Indy celebrities will scoop out their favorite flavors of ice cream to create hundreds of sundaes made with local toppings at the Ice Cream Social. Kids can also enjoy face painting, a photo booth, the Pacers Fan Van and more.
First Friday Food Truck Festival | First Fridays May – October, 5 -9 p.m. | Old National Centre
No need to hunt down your favorite food truck – they are probably at the First Friday Food Truck Festival. Pay $5 for admission and you’ll have the chance to buy entrees, desserts and cold treats from your favorite businesses.

Of course, you won’t want to miss the Indiana State Fair Aug. 4-20, which will include 17 shows and lots of food to accompany it’s “Wonderful World of Food” theme.
