INDIANAPOLIS -- Out of extreme darkness comes light. Less than a week after two men were gunned down and killed on Gladstone Avenue, a little boy is taking his request for change to the top.
We introduced you to Reese last week, he’s just 8 years old, but he lives in a community he is coming to fear.
Reese is a third grader wise beyond his years, and he’s seen more in his young life than many adults could think of, but he’s is hoping to help change the community he lives in. On Monday he took his concerns straight to Mayor Hogsett and the two of them came up with a plan to try to help.
For nearly an hour the two talked about what’s being done and what can be done.
Reese told the mayor he’d love to get classmates and young people in Indy together to march for peace.
And Mayor Hogsett said he liked that idea, “I think your idea and your goals of putting together a group of young people are warranted and I’d like to help you in that effect."
Right now, Reese’s peace march with the mayor is tentatively planned for Saturday, October 22.
