INDIANAPOLIS — AES Indiana has announced it is postponing its remaining community open houses scheduled for the week of March 9, citing violent threats made on social media.

The March 3 open house at the OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA was canceled less than an hour before it was set to begin after AES said it received numerous violent threats across social media.

The company has now confirmed the March 10 event at the Frederick Douglass Family Center and the March 11 event at Decatur Township School for Excellence will also not take place as planned.

AES to reschedule Community Open House due to threats

AES said a community partner raised safety concerns stemming from the threats and requested an alternate location for any future meeting.

"This decision was made out of an abundance of caution and it was not made lightly," AES Indiana said in a statement. "The safety of our customers, community partners, and team members remains our top priority."

An investigation with IMPD is ongoing.

AES Indiana said it remains committed to customer engagement and is disappointed the open houses cannot move forward at this time. Customers can reach AES Indiana 24 hours a day, seven days a week by phone or online at aesindiana.com/contact-us.

Details about future community open houses will be shared at a later date.
