INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill is warning Hoosiers about a home repair scam taking place following recent severe weather.
According to a release from the attorney general's office, consumers have reported home improvement contractors have visited storm-damaged homes and offered to waive insurance deductibles for people who contract with them for repairs, a practice that is illegal in Indiana.
People who receive such offers from contractors are asked to report them to the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division by calling 1-800-382-5516 or visiting www.in.gov/attorneygeneral and clicking "file a complaint" at the bottom of the page.
