INDIANAPOLIS — Developers hope to break ground late this summer on a proposed apartment building with a unique concept on the south end of downtown Indianapolis.

To be called "Union House," the nine-story building and a 700 space parking garage are planned on East McCarty Street, close to Lucas Oil Stadium and the Eli Lilly and Company headquarters.

Architect Steve Alexander of Prince Alexander Architects says the apartments and parking garage will be key parts of the growing Union 525 corporate campus, which includes the former Wood High School.

Union 525 caters to tech companies and the 160-unit apartment building will fit the needs of people who work for those companies.

It will feature smaller apartments with flexible leases, making it possible for people with short-term work assignments in the area to live there.

Union House and the parking garage will also be close to an office building under construction that will be part of the corporate campus.
