FRANKFORT, Ind. -- An armed person near a Clinton County law enforcement officer's home prompted a large police response Monday night.

A woman called 911 shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday to report a person armed with a gun had approached her in the yard of the 6000 block of County Road 100 North. Police say the man asked for water and if her husband, a law enforcement officer, was home.

The woman told the man she would get him water and went inside the house, locking the doors behind her. She left via another door with her children and called 911.

Multiple police units, including SWAT officers, were called to the area – although officials offered conflicting stories of whether a hostage situation was initially reported.

A suspect was eventually located and was taken in to custody by police.

No injuries or specific threats were reported.
