LAWRENCE, Ind. -- Tense moments were recorded on body cameras worn by Lawrence police officers for the first time on Tuesday as they stopped a suspected hit and run driver.
The system comes with two cameras in the car and one in the officer's vest. The in-car camera activates when the car's lights go on.

The camera captured the action as officers located a Ford F150 near 56th and Arlington with front-end damage and ordered the driver out of the truck.
The 57-year-old woman behind the wheel was arrested for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
The woman claims she wasn't driving and that a second person jumped out of the vehicle.
Officers say the video will come in handy if the case goes to court
The Lawrence Police Department will craft specific policies for the body cameras and another 42 officers will have them by October.
