INDIANAPOLIS — A Turtle Warning is in effect at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.

Here's the story: A Red-eared Slider turtle who goes by "Mama" laid her eggs a bit too close to Walnut Point Road.

That's between the Eagle Creek Marina and the Peace Learning Center.

With COVID-19 restrictions relaxed and some nice warm days lately, the park is getting a lot of use and traffic, and there's been some illegal parking in the area.

Park rangers don't want to see the eggs disturbed. The park's Facebook posting put it this way: "There's more “nature” going on in the turf grass than what meets the eye, like this underground nest."

So, if you're driving in that area of the park, stay on the road. Mama Turtle thanks you!
