Attempted abduction reported on Bloomington's B-Line Trail

Posted

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Bloomington police issued an alert this week following an attempted abduction along the B-Line Trail.

The abduction attempt occurred Sunday around noon at the 132-mile marker. Police say the unidentified suspect grabbed a woman by the arms and tried to wrestle her down the path.

The woman screamed, causing a couple walking the trail to come to her rescue. The suspect then let go and fled into the woods.

Police characterize the midday attack on the three-mile urban trail as rare. And, while heavily traveled, users say that one needs to maintain situational awareness.

Bloomington police are also looking for a man believed to be involved in at least seven different flashing incidents between mid-May and mid-June. The man has flashed his genitals at women in and around homes and apartments just north of the IU campus.

On several of those occasions, the man also chased after his intended victims.

Anyone with information about either case is urged to contact the Bloomington Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
