AVON, Ind. – An Avon man who once weighed more than 300 pounds shed 150 pounds within 15 months.
Kevin Jones said he rediscovered his love for running once he began seeing the true numbers on the scale.
"I was afraid of weighing myself,” said Jones. “It’s one of those things that you really don’t want to know it, and when I did get on the scale, I had never been that heavy in my entire life."
He said he found running served as a stress reliever to things going on in his daily life. He couldn’t find enough hours in the day to fit in a workout and unhealthy comfort food was always an arm’s reach away.
In February 2016, after seeing the scale, Jones started exercising each day and began to change his diet.
"I started really, really slow,” he said. “A lot of people think I’m crazy when I tell them I like running."
Jones now averages 6 miles each run and participated in the Mini Marathon this past spring. He said he hopes his story can serve as an inspiration for others.
"If there’s somebody else out there who is in my situation that I could provide inspiration to, that’s the biggest thing that I want to see out of this,” said Jones.
