INDIANAPOLIS -- Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard has withdrawn his name for consideration to be the president of Ivy Tech.
He was one of 17 people to submit a resume, or express the intent to do so.

Also interested in the job is Sue Ellspermann, who resigned from her job as lieutenant governor to seek the job.

Ballard was mayor of Indianapolis from 2008-2015. His last act as mayor was to officiate a friend's wedding in downtown Indianapolis.

The college is searching for a replacement to current President Tom Snyder, who will retire next year. Snyder has served as president of Ivy Tech since 2007.
Michael Dora, the chairman of Ivy Tech's search committee, has said the committee anticipates hiring a new president by the end of April. The target start date is late June or early July.
