COLUMBUS, Ind. -- A fallen Columbus soldier was honored Saturday during an induction ceremony for the Columbus East High School Hall of Fame.
U.S. Army Sgt. Jonathon Michael Hunter, 23, was one of two American service members killed during an Aug. 2, 2017 suicide bombing attack on a NATO convoy in Afghanistan.

Sgt. Hunter was a 2011 graduate of Columbus East High School.
Hunter's wife, Whitney, and his father, Mark, attended the ceremony.
"Makes me a proud dad," said Mark. "He knew what he was doing. I think he'd do it again."
