ISP investigating after inmate dies in Bartholomew County Jail

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Indiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate in the Bartholomew County Jail late Saturday evening. 

State police were called around 10:30 p.m. after jail staff found inmate Angela Blair, 42, in need of medical attention in her cell. While jail staff were speaking to her, Blair collapsed and became unresponsive. She was taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Blair was serving a sentence for a probation violation on drug-related charges. 

Her cause of death is pending autopsy and toxicology results and remains under investigation by Indiana State Police.
