COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Two women were arrested Friday on charges related to the death of an inmate at the Bartholomew County Jail last October.
Jail staff found Angela Blair, 42, of Elizabethtown, Ind., in her cell in need of medical attention on Oct. 7.
Blair collapsed and became unresponsive. She was taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
An investigation by an Indiana State Police detective found that Blair died of methamphetamine intoxication.
The detective further discovered that Debin Paige Gabbard, 27, of Columbus, Ind., smuggled meth into the jail when she was arrested on Oct. 5, 2017.
Gabbard allegedly gave the meth to Mary L. Snyder, 19, of Columbus, Ind., who then gave the drug to Blair while they were housed together in the Bartholomew County Jail.
Gabbard was arrested on charges of dealing methamphetamine, trafficking with an inmate, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of methamphetamine. Snyder was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
