INDIANAPOLIS -- Chips, pommes frites, fries. Whatever you call them, it's time to get out and enjoy!
Yep, it's National French Fry Day.
Why you ask? It's because potatoes and tomatoes account for more than half of all vegetables eaten by Americans each year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and that's something to celebrate.
The Washington Post says you can attribute that to our national love affair with french fries and ketchup.
That's all well and good, but the best part of fries is eating them.
There are places where you can go to get free french fries today, but if you're looking for the best, here are the finest fries Indy has to offer, according to Foursquare:
- Brugge Brassiere in Broad Ripple
- Boogie Burger in Broad Ripple
- Fat Dan's Deli in Meridian Kessler
- Twenty Tap in Meridian Kessler
- Five Guys, multiple locations, Indianapolis
- Taste Cafe & Marketplace at N. College Ave. at 52nd St.
- Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern, W. 86th St.
- Fire by the Monon, 6523 Ferguson St.
- Punch Burger, E. Ohio St.
- Scotty's Brewhouse, multiple locations, Indianapolis
- Chatham Tap, 719 Mass Ave.
- Canal Bistro Mediterranean Grill, 6349 Guilford Ave.
So get out and celebrate. After all National French Fry day only comes once a year (but who are we kidding, we'll eat fries anytime).
