INDIANAPOLIS -- Five of the ten best public high schools in the state of Indiana are in the Indianapolis metro.
A new report, released by Niche.com, shows where each of Indiana's public high schools ranked based on an analysis of key statistics and reviews from students, parents and teachers.
Niche.com is a website that helps parents discover the schools that are best for their kids.
No. 1 in Indiana is also No. 17 in the country: The Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics & Humanities on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie.
Niche.com gave the school a rating of A+ for great teachers, academics, health & safety, diversity and college readiness.
Some Indianapolis metro schools went down the rankings this year. Carmel High School was ranked No. 4 in the state, down from its 2016 ranking of No. 2. Neighboring Fishers High School came in at No. 6 also down from its 2016 ranking of No. 4.
Indianapolis was represented first at No. 7 with Herron High School followed closely with No. 8 North Central High School.
