In aFacebook postby the DNR's division of fish and wildlife, the bear has moved to the Scott/Clark county line.

Anybody living in the area should:

  • Remove trash cans from outside areas
  • Remove birdfeeders
  • Clean and store grills in a garage or shed

The DNR also reminded people to not feed the bear.

If you spot the bear, back away slowly while yelling and waving your arms. You should also report the sighting to the DNR at 812-334-1137 or dfw@dnr.IN.gov.

The bear was first spotted in Harrison County on July 17.

In 2015, conservation officers confirmed sightings of a black bear in northern Indiana – the first to be seen in the state in more than 140 years.
