BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A Bloomington animal rescue group is raising concerns about a high number of animal abuse cases they've seen in the last two weeks.
The group is pointing to three cases where it appears people went out of their way to try to hurt or kill animals that were causing no harm. In one of those cases, someone brought in a crow that had a broken beak and severe damage to its eye.
The bird's rescuer claims they saved it from a group of boys who were attacking it.
Days earlier, someone brought in a wounded snake. Days prior to that, Wild Care Inc. took in two rabbits that had been abused.
In both cases, the person bringing them in said they rescued the animals from the driver of an industrial lawnmower who was trying to run them over.
Wild Care Inc. organizers say they are inclined to attribute the increase in cases to an increase in awareness about the group. They say if you come across a case like these, it's important to gather as much information as possible about those hurting the animals.
