BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A man was arrested after he broke into a woman’s home, threatened to kill her then raped her, Bloomington police say.

Bloomington police arrested 28-year-old Devin Grounds early Thursday morning with charges of rape, burglary and theft.

The incident happened Sept. 5 around 4 a.m. after a woman reported to police she woke up to a man in her room.

During the investigation, detectives developed a suspect after physical evidence and a DNA sample were collected and sent to the Indiana State Police lab.

Ground was transported to the Monroe County Jail and found to have an unrelated warrant for leaving the scene of an accident.

Detectives are unaware if this case is in connection with reports on Sept. 5 and Sept. 8 where an unknown male entered unlocked homes on the south side of Bloomington.
