BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- In a city with the fifth largest population of same-sex households per capita, the Bloomington Police Department is creating a LGBTQ liaison program.

The liaison program will work with the LGBTQ community to help foster communication with the department.

The department will have two liaisons: Det. Sgt. Dana Cole and Sgt. David Alley. Cole and Alley have been with the Bloomington Police Department for 12 and 7 years, respectively.

Some of the things the liaisons will do is provide resources and address issues related to hate crimes or safety issues.
