GREENWOOD — The Johnson County Coroner said on Monday that a man found dead in a drainage ditch last month did not suffer any injures at or near the time of his death.

The body of Werner Gadshian, 70, from Whiteland, Indiana, was found by a pedestrian near State Road 135 and Swartz Crossing on Friday, March 6.

Johnson County Coroner Mike Pruitt said Garshian was reported missing and last seen on August 31, 2025, at approximately 8 p.m. An Indiana Silver Alert was issued in September. Available information indicated that he had a history of dementia.

In an email sent to WRTV on April 20, Pruitt said scientific analysis from the University of Indianapolis Human Information Center did not find evidence of premortem trauma that would have contributes to Gadshian's death, and his cause and manner of death remain undetermined.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Greenwood Police Department, New Whiteland Police Department or the Johnson County Coroner's Office.
