JACKSON COUNTY — A body found in a field on Monday afternoon is believed to be a man missing from Seymour since late November.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department received a call just after noon about a body found in a field next to Sand Creek in the 12000 block of N CR 1250 E, according to Sheriff Rick Meyer.
The caller told deputies they were walking in a field looking for arrowheads when they found the man's body. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office says the man's description and tattoos appear to match those of missing Seymour man, Kevin Lee Sheriff, 45. Sheriff was last seen in Seymour on November 27, 2019 and was reported missing on December 17, 2019.
Sheriff's family has been notified and his cause of death is pending an autopsy and toxicology report.
