INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a body was found in a tree-lined area on Indianapolis' south side Tuesday afternoon.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1500 block of Shelby Street just after noon.
Arriving officers found the body in a tree-lined area. Police say it is believed to be an adult, although the person has not been identified at this time.
Police say the circumstances surrounding the person's death are unknown and it is unclear how long the body has been in the area.
Homicide detectives were called to investigate.
The Marion County Coroner's Office will determine the exact cause and manner of death.
