PUTNAM Co., Ind. -- The body of a Indianapolis man was recovered Wednesday from a lake in the Lieber State Recreation Area in Putnam County.
Witnesses say Rosendo Colon-Claudio, 20, said he wanted to see how far he could swim into the lake.
Indiana Conservation Officers say Colon-Claudio was a few yards from re-entering the designated swimming area, which is marked by a rope boundary, when he went under.
A friend of Colon-Claudio called 911 around 2 p.m.
Indiana Conservation Divers recovered his body about an hour later.
The Putnam County Coroner pronounced Colon-Claudio dead at the scene.
